"I have engaged with this community and I hear you loud and clear. For far too long, our representatives have done what they thought was best rather than listen to their community and work side by side with them. I want to work for you. We need to protect parental rights, strive for excellence in the basics of education and foster healthy relationships between families and educators. I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate the complicated issues, and I am here to get things done."
Defend Parental Rights
On September 2021, Jane Goodwin said "we've heard enough from the parents." Our parents are not being heard. The "one size fits all" approach won't work for all children - that's why parents having a seat at the table is essential.
Return to Basic Academics
We have an excellent school district, however, there are 14,000 students reading below their grade level and can't understand their textbooks.*
Establishing a strong understanding of the basics is a key aspect that has long been forgotten. When our schools build a solid foundation for our children focused around subjects like Reading, Science and Math, it strengthens the ability for our students to build skills like critical thinking and guides them towards a path of success.
Drive Budgetary Accountability
On September 3, 2021, the 3 board members voted for nearly half a million dollars to be contracted for "Social/Emotional/Behavioral Interventions" for 1 elementary school.* This is one example of excessive spending by my opponent. Our community deserves to know where our money is going and how it's being spent!
